Living in the Moment
Today’s society is pretty frantic, right? We have to have everything done immediately, we have instantaneous newsfeeds from various social media streams, we get a text, we need to respond immediately, no one calls for a long chat much anymore and life is about efficiently making the most of every moment.
Or do we?
Do we make the most of every moment? Or are we too busy planning ahead scheduling enjoyment and waiting for the end result of everything?
When was the last time you stopped for a while, took a deep breath and just watched the clouds float by, listened to the rustle of a tree, felt the breeze against your skin?
We are all guilty of living every day in the fast lane and forgetting to look upwards and enjoy. Some more than most. And if you are the one who remembers then my heart goes to you, as you will probably be the same person who is smiling whilst being present.
Today I am going to stop my scheduling of every moment, stop maximising efficiency (maybe just for an hour or so) and go and sit and just be. Because that is exactly what we are, human beings… not human doings.
