pH Balance? What’s that?
Our body’s internal environment is designed to be just above 7.0 on the pH scale. A pH level higher than 7.0 is known as an alkaline state. After we have eaten, the body breaks down the food into small usable nutrients (for all activities in the body) and the waste that is leftover, we shall call “ash”. Certain foods can leave alkaline ash, and certain foods leave an acidic ash. Each time you eat, the pH levels in your body change depending on which “ash” is left over. Luckily, your body is very clever and will automatically correct its pH balance by using mineral reserves to return the pH back to the optimum alkaline state. A typical Western diet tends to include far too many acidic ash forming foods.
Once you change your eating habits to include as many alkaline ash forming foods every day, your body will remain as close to the healthy alkaline pH state as possible.
And the fabulous news is: When an alkaline environment is maintained in the body, our metabolism, immune system and repair processes function at their very best.
