What isn’t discussed freely when it comes to life changes, vision and our life goals.

At first, you don’t always know exactly what you are supposed to be doing, to be inspirational to others, to live out your purpose. The “parent” in your inner voice can be a strong voice and we give ourselves a hard time for not knowing what it is we want, however, that only ever serves to deter you from reaching the next level in life. I call BS on that. So step 1, stop doing it, hit the red button and tell that inner critic to “pack it in”, because it will only ever hinder the process. That said, not knowing what you want is a brilliant starting point, because you haven’t as of yet hit the jackpot. When you recognise what you don’t want, it moves you into understanding yourself better. It’s great insight! By shelving what doesn’t work for you, you have room to manoeuvre towards what you do want. This is the part where you ‘trial and error’ life. It can be quite scary to confront life in this manner. However, the trial and error stage is incredibly important. Re-frame “failing” into “I needed to learn something from that experience”. Then the magic starts to happen as you get wiser along the way and your decision-making becomes sharper, more focused, more directed.

When you have an idea of “what” you are going to do, it’s important to understand that you rarely have the “how” laid out in front. No-one ever really knows at this point how it will pan out 100%. And this is when you hit the important crossroad. It’s decision time.

At this point, ask yourself the following questions: am I going to stop myself from doing what needs to be done because the exact path is not clear to me today, or am I going to embrace these physical uncertainties and believe in the certainty of ME? Because this is what I have to offer into the mix: my ability to work things out, my ability to think on my feet, my ability to “know” a good idea from a bad one by using gut instinct and applying the learned lessons along the way, and trusting my ability to make the tough decisions when they need to happen.

Life is always uncertain, that’s why in times of challenges, you know you can turn anything in life around if you have to; that way it’s not forever.

Certainty never lies in life. Certainty only ever lies within you.
