Stepping Up and Speaking Up
Today was challenging…….
I had a particular situation come up and I had a choice, either people-please or stand up and do what was needed to be done (or in this case, say what had to be said). Sometimes when I speak about embracing forgiveness and living life with compassion and love and prioritising the best outcome for your health, it may be misconstrued as continuous appeasement of others. And that couldn’t be further from the truth.
True self (and ultimately your health) comes from working with what is congruent with your morals, your gut feeling of what is right for you and what you know in your heart. And when a situation presents that compromises one or all of those, it is very important to stand up and be counted. For one thing, there is always a lesson in there somewhere. And something to be learnt. Remember to learn these lessons… otherwise, they tend to come at you until you do. And if you do have to stand up and be counted, it is important to be “ok” with yourself for doing that. Because you can always say what is needed to be said without being unkind. In these times I always suggest you refer to “firm, but fair”. Start by asking yourself “is that stance I am taking fair to all parties involved?” And then if I get a resounding yes in my gut, I persevere with firmness. A solid firmness. By doing this, I find I may upset the Apple cart but I also find that I instil respect for myself from others and ultimately from others.
My top tip for today….. Stand up and be counted
