Breathing and Breath

I talk often about the Six Essentials in Life and how they affect your health, emotionally and physically.  Breathing, specifically – How you Breathe, is one part of these essentials.

Being mindful about the quality of your air and the quality of your breath is very beneficial towards your overall health.  Quality breathing has many positive health implications, including combating fatigue, exhaling out toxins efficiently from your body, it assists with pain relief and can even alter your entire body posture.

It brings essential oxygen to your cells, promoting healthy blood flow and heart health.  Breathing moves the body, moving the Lymphatic system, promoting a healthier immune system.  It has so many wonderful qualities, on so many levels.

However, the calming effect it has on your mind and soul is tangible.  By deep breathing in a rhythmic nature, your fight and flight response (sympathetic response) starts to stand down relaxing your muscles and tendons, calming many of your body systems.  It takes the pressure off.  Take some time to sit down and breathe today.  Your health will thank you for it.
