What are you grateful for?
Gratitude is often brought up and referring to when you start to do the “inner-work” and try to unravel and explore what makes you happy around who you are. But what do we mean by gratitude? The official meaning is.. ‘ the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. ‘. Sounds nice. Actually, strike that, sounds amazing! So where to start?…
Journalling is a great place… once a week, perhaps a Sunday evening or a time when you have a few moments to reflect, sit for a while and really feel in your heart what went well in life for you this week.. even if it is a hard stressful week, find one thing that is accessible to you.. maybe something like.. you had food, you had a roof over your head, etc. Or you could sit with someone you feel safe with and chat through what is working well for you in life today. This may be more challenging than you anticipate. The art of practising thankfulness and gratitude can feel a bit uncomfortable if you are not familiar with voicing your appreciation. It can feel a little alien and unusual. Which is why it is important that you continue forward. Because, when we stand in the space of what we do appreciate, we feel more happiness in our heart and lessen the problems of tomorrow which is KEY here. Spending more time in gratitude and less time in “fix it” mode will relax you, you’ll digest your food, you’ll breath more deeply, you’ll smile more smiles. And ultimately, your health will thank you for it.
